If you’re a fan of Sawyer Bennett, this short novella is worth the read. If you’ve never experienced this author before, it’s also a great introduction to her work. It’s steamy and sexy but also has all the heart I have come to expect from Ms. Bennett’s stories.

Hope and Jack fit together perfectly. Although they don’t mind having fun with others, they prefer a bit more quiet and solitude than their friends. Neither of them feel like they’re missing out by spending time alone together rather than with the other raucous people at the inn for a wedding they’re both attending. This time alone gives them ample opportunity to get to know each other on a deeper, more personal, level.

As the wedding week festivities wind down and their time comes to an end, my heart is just broken for them. Neither Jack nor Hope are naïve so they are aware of the many things that can come in the way of them taking things to the next step in a relationship. That makes the heart-break all the more intense in my mind.

This is a wonderful, feel-good story that is just perfect for this busy time of year.

When Hope and Chance begin their relationship as a Christmas fling at a friends wedding they never expected it to go anywhere. Chance is getting shipped off to Afghanistan with the Army, and doesn't want a commitment. This is a fun sexy romance novella!
What can I say but Sawyer Bennett has done it again. I'm a huge fan of hers this Christmas novella absolutely is heart warming. I love the story Jack and Hope meeting by chance at a resort where a wedding is. They come together and the story is just touching. Jack is a solider going off to war and Hope a college student meet and sparks fly. Circumstances happen but fate has a happy way of intervening. Just a fantastic read tissues are a definite requirement for this one but so worth the read. So don't hesitate to purchase this because you will be missing out on a great story
I'm just amazed at this author's talent. Despite this being a short work, the elements of true love and sexiness are nicely captured without any feeling of a rushed romance. The couple is one, however, whom I would have enjoyed reading about in a longer work, particularly because both characters are "real" characters. For example, one reviewer criticizes the hero because he seems controlling, while the heroine seems a bit passive. But I found this quite likeable because it made the characters realistic. Humans aren't perfect, though they are often depicted as such in romance novels. Because of the realistic elements if this work, including the fumbled proposal, I feel that this piece is wonderfully written, and I highly recommend it! My other favorite by Sawyer Bennett is Off The Record.
I have read all 11 of the 12 Novellas of Christmas (yes there were only 11 because one author couldn’t participate). If I Return was by far the best of them. In fact it was awesome. I’ve read it two more times since and will definitely be reading more books by Sawyer Bennett. Jack and Hope’s story is fantastic and I just couldn’t put it down. It is the classic story of a gorgeous but sensitive young man and a shy reserved young woman who literally stumble into each other while they are on a mini vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Come to find out, they are both there to attend the same wedding and of course, the attraction between them is too much to take and they begin a whirlwind love affair over the course of a week. They are cruelly separated with only a promise to meet again in one years time on Christmas Eve at the same hotel where they met. Will they get their happily ever after? You will have to read it to see but it won’t disappoint. If I had to pick one negative, it would be that there weren’t any chapters from Jack’s perspective until the very end. It was all from Hope’s side and it would have been nice to see how his thoughts and feelings toward Hope developed throughout the story. Nonetheless, this is definitely a 5+ star read. Enjoy!
I am a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett's and true to form, she delivers a fantastic story in the Christmas novella, If I Return. As with all her Off Series, she has created characters that you immediately connect with and love, and a super hot male lead in Jack Freeman to add to your list of book boyfriends to remember. I liked Hope a lot also and enjoyed seeing her character come out of her shell as the story developed. Not only is the romance really hot, the story itself is wonderfully touching. I love stories that involve military guys, and this one provides you with a hot helicopter pilot that you will be rooting for the entire time. Another thing that I really loved in this book is the setting of Asheville North Carolina. I have family from this area so it felt like it enabled me to connect with the story on a deeper level. Sawyer Bennett paints a beautiful picture of the area with her words also, so if you've never been, you'll feel like you have. There are some really touching scenes and some super steamy ones, and there is also a really great epilogue also, which is something I really enjoy in a book. If I Return is a short story that is full of substance and something that is well worth taking the time to read.
No idea why I’ve never read this Sawyer Bennett book before, but I’m so glad I happened upon it. Although it’s a very short read, it’s heartfelt and sweet. Meeting at a wedding, Hope and Jack have an instant attraction to each other. Deciding to go out of her comfort zone, and knowing nothing will come of it, Hope decides to grab the moment and have a fling, and it is a fling, because Jack is to be stationed abroad in the Army for the next year. Can they forget each other or will love conquer all? Lovely characters, wonderful writing and lots of sexy time. Enjoyable cute read.
